#14 No. Broke in money context is not referring to something "broken" as damaged, it referrs to the persons wallet/change purse having a hole in it... so they are unable to have money becase they can't hold onto it.

Not US independence... thats when the brits switched to metric. The US teaches both so technically we are bi-measure, and can do both. Plus the US uses everyone's measurement system.
