#8 Since you're cleaning up broken glass while barefoot, you might just as well simply walk around to find any shards you missed.
Saves on flashlight batteries, too.

#8 Good idea... but the BEST way to clean up tiny glass fragments is to use a wet paper towel over the area. The moisture attracts the microscopic particles and traps them for disposal. For carpet, dab the area after vacuming. Its amazing.

Use risers to create more storage space and protect the floors at the same time.

Bed risers are little pieces of plastic, metal, or wood that are installed under the bed legs. They lift the bed up, creating some extra space underneath it and at the same time protecting the floors from damage.
