45 yo here.

My advise is to start saving heavily for retirement as soon as you get your first job. Regardless if you make little money, save a lot and invest it. You will be very happy that you will be able to retire at 55 yo even if you had a family and bought an expensive house

#13 There are very few geniuses who are gifted athletes.

Assuming you have to be in the top 10% in each of the categories to be considered an athlete or a smart kid, the chance of being both is only 1%. On top of that, true geniuses are maybe only 2% of the population.

The wrestler studying astrophysics probably isn’t that good at either.

Time goes faster than you think, look at the future, not your misery or upset right now.

Penelope,

False. Forget about the past, and don't fret about the future. Live in the present, and you will be happier.

(plan ahead for retirement, though, that sh#t is important)

Gil,

Plan for the future and learn from the past, but understand that the past is guilt and the future is anxiety. Live in the present.

#13 Where tf did you grow up? Were you raised in the US? Because there were absolutely jocks and nerds in every school I ever went to, and I lived in several states.
It wasn't a "dichotomy," either. There were many niches- jocks, preppies, goths, nerds, mean girls, pot heads, ROTC geeks, etc. I started out as a ROTC geek, quit and became a nerd, but turned into a pot head by my senior year.
There were also losers who had no friends at all- like the ones who insisted there were "harmful dichotomies" so they could feel better about themselves.

Realize that everything you "know" is created from the experiences you accumulate as you go through life. Stop assuming "old people are dumb," as they have more of it than you do. As you grow older, many things that you once "knew" will change.

#16 it's not about where the money comes from or how do you earn it but it is what do you do with it, money doesn't last forever and don't spend it in stupid sh#t, do something positive for your future
