#45 That's not true. 35 feet from earth surface? That's physically impossible. The moon would be shredded to pieces. And 85 million years ago is the time where dinosaurs lived. If this where true, some dinosaurs could hit there head on the moon. Haha.

When the Moon formed 4 bil yrs ago, it approx. 15,000-20,000 miles from Earth. It is now roughly 238,900 miles away.
The Moon moves away from the Earth at about 3.8 cm per year. 3.8cm x 85 mil yrs = 323 mil cm, or a little over 2,000 miles.
85 mil yrs ago, the Moon was approx. 236,900 miles away. Not a big difference.
(In the beginning, it was moving away much faster due to the momentum it had from it's formation. The pull of Earth's gravity has slowed it down.)

Nando, technically it is correct seeing it is believed the moon was formed when the Earth and another small planet collided. So you could say since the moon was once part of the Earth, that the moon was once touching the planet. But at that time it really wasn't the moon.
