The reason that happened is because it’s Africa. The money earmarked for a shiny new bridge went into their accounts.

I can’t believe they had a ribbon cutting for a scaffold bridge.

Pride comes before a fall... they forgot weight limits exist for reasons. This actually has happened a lot to bridges/platforms, during opening ceremonies and concerts across the planet.
