(half way into the video...) Oh! That's a rug?!
I thought it was a carved design in marble or stone that was filled with dirt.
But since it's a rug, why didn't they hang it up first to beat on it with a rug beater to loosen and force out some of the impacted dirt? Then while it's still hanging, blast it with the high pressure sprayer for a longer duration while gravity pulls the heavy dirt particles out.

What a coincidence! Youtube recommended a rug cleaning video to me. I wonder how they knew I might be interested. Hmmm.
Anyway: youtu.be/ghg6A_8WzJU
This guy gives a running commentary on what he's doing, what he's using, and why.

Cleaning of rugs is a thing, especially in countries where manhours cost considerably less than a new rug.

Another is how come rugs look like they were all filled with dirt untill you cant see the pattern and only then cleaned for a youtube video.

It's one thing to clean the carpet before having sex. Just shave that bush and wait for the new rug to grow in.

I would have soaked it first to save me the extra effort. But then... it could have just been a cheap carpet... dash

Hosea,

Time lapse, editing. They applied a degreaser/cleaner several times and let it soak.
