For the past several years, I've had the opportunity to go to different barber shops. Several times, when I informed these young barbers that I wanted my back and sides very short, they ask "what number"? What "what number?"? Apparently, they want me to tell them which clipper attachment size I would like them to use to achieve the "very short" I asked for. How the hell should I know?! I've never used hair clippers.
the numbers are generally the depth in mm, tend to range from 1 to 16 afaik.
