It's done like that for faster loading.

Give it a whirl. Click your way right through them.
They used to have 15 GIFs per page, but if you had cr#ppy internet like DSL it took too long to load.
At one point they did. But I think the problem was "the" page was very slow to load with 50+ gifs.
