Tave, The largest mass-death event at a school in the US was done by dynamite. The largest mass death event at a school in Indonesia (4x the death toll of the US) was done by poison gas. The largest mass death event at a school in the world, 6x the largest US event, was done in Russia by explosives. The gun is not the problem.
Now who's rationalizing? The point being made is that evil people will do evil things. The gun did not make the shooter kill people. Absent a gun, there would be a different problem. Specific to the UK, yes, there are no school shootings now but there are school stabbings. Because evil people do evil things.
Yes, we do. The live of the people who are killed and their families' suffering is astronomically more important than what you believe is your right based on some law some guys wrote hundreds of years ago when the world was a different place.
Uh, just in the past month there was a trial in NY for this exact thing. And don't forget the Christmas parade killer. Or the truck driver in Nice, France. Ohohoh...how about all the innocents killed every freaking day because of the idiots who drink and drive.
Are you f@#king kidding me? Just because more destructive weapons have killed more people at once (f@#king duh, by the way) DOES NOT discount the amount of people who have been killed in mass shootings in America. Those may have been the largest single incidents, but guns have killed WAY MORE innocent people in total. What Tave said is true. It happens so often now that people have begun to see it as just another news story. Those people's lives have been utterly destroyed by how easy it is for anyone to get a gun. How many more people have to die to gun nuts to stop being so blind, deluded and selfish?
Norby, So you would deprive law-abiding people of the best way to defend themselves against armed criminals due to an emotional response to an admittedly abhorrent and evil mass shooting. Who is being "blind, deluded and selfish"?
Abso-f@#king-lutely! Your need for guns is infinitely less important than innocent lives! There are soooooo many more important rights for you to be worried about! Stop fighting for something that doesn't matter just because you like being on a bandwagon!
Tave, Btw...I attended a military training years ago, during which it was revealed that mass shootings actually occur all over the world. Our media simply does not report on the vast majority of them.
#23 They should do this with the faces of all the children who have been murdered in school shootings. They should be painted everywhere, and shown on billboards. Television shows should be periodically interrupted with slide shows of the victims and their families. This horrible atrocity should be in the forefront of people's minds, so that something can finally be done to prevent it from ever happening again.

I love this rationalization. Sure, guns are not the problem, readily available poisonous gas and explosives are!

You don’t get to take way my rights because someone else abuses theirs.
One can only hope that all gun lovers get to find out what it feel like to get shot.

nobody's going out and intentionally running over dozens of people every week, stupid, so no

You'll take them away from the law-abiding, but who, pray tell, is going to take them away from the criminals?
The love of guns is a depraved semi-sexual affair, and all gun-lovers (notice I didn't say all gun owners) need professional help.
