...far, far too many deeper psychological issues are being promoted as 'body positive' in western society while we just keep down voting 'haters' and applauding things like this on the platform of social media, acting like we've cured every little problem by embracing it. The people commenting here alone probably include someone with ADHD, or maybe anxiety, or perhaps even someone who likes to torture live squirrels. The point is there's no way what this girl has done to herself is normal, but with this 'do whatever is good for you' rhetoric, you have the commenters online to the people around her who then don't have to take any responsibility for her well being as they smugly say 'what's normal?'. Then we can just virtue signal how 'awesome' or 'gross' it is and move on to to the next thing. But just think about what's going in her head to do this to herself and what brought her to it, and how she's going to end up in the long run. ALL people mutilating their bodies from obesity to castration are not 'just fine as they are' and what's really sick is how we've made such a political game of self congratulation from it with feminism and bigotry calling the plays on either side. Regardless, someone like this, or someone grossly overweight, anorexic, or even right down to a school shooter, are NOT 'just fine'. It's just showing in a different way. One could say she has daddy issues or insecurities or even the real disease of being addicted to recognition, but there's something deeper at work here and we're content to let her go down that road as long as we look good for supporting such choices.
