Smart but probably requires lot of maintenance also may get overload with mass evacuation

gravity is doing the job, so almost no maintenance needed here. Probably a test once a year. That's not "lot of".

What's to stop some prankster from releasing the mechanism cause this fire escape system to expand? How much work and time is needed to reset this fire escape system? And what if this prankster set it off every other week?
