What scares ME is the LACK of flotation devices ... the whales could tip their kayak probably without even knowing they had done it, plus all the OTHER UNPREDICTABLE THINGS that can happen...

Not a scary situation at all. I'd be a bit concerned about being accidentally tipped into the water (but then I'd have a life vest on) but I'd just be awed by getting so close to such magnificent creatures.
