With great decisions like this, I can't imagine why Greece has been in an economic crisis.

This is normal, especially in places where populations are nowhere near the number of expected visitors. The locals don't need the places and can't afford to keep a billion dollar place clean. I see it with big houses all the time as well. People buy and can't take care of it.
