we are bombarded by co2 climate change etc.... yet nobody talks about negative climate effect of thing like this....

Every concrete building is bad. You need more energy for concrete than for steel and alot of the sand for concrete is collected from the sea bottom.

yeah, but megalomaniac structures that are abandoned soon after are even worse.... not to mention building process.

This is normal, especially in places where populations are nowhere near the number of expected visitors. The locals don't need the places and can't afford to keep a billion dollar place clean. I see it with big houses all the time as well. People buy and can't take care of it.
