Yeah Matrix really made me think when I first saw it. Not about if this is all a simulation but Mr. Smith's whole "humans are a disease" speech. Like ok technically humans aren't a virus but we do reproduce till all the resources are used up then move on and repeat. Or we go to places that there aren't enough resources to begin with and have to transport them in just to survive (look at the water usage of cities like Las Vegas if you don't believe).
I tend to disagree. it was sh#te.
Eraserhead
The Lawnmower Man
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
and Soylent Green
Humans evolved such a wide range of feelings because we're social animals. We can have emotions when alone, but they carry more significance when they're acknowledged. At the very least, we need other people.
I think it's you that has the depth of thought of a Brussels Sprout!
2001 was far ahead of it's day. We are only now asking the questions about AI that were first presented in that movie!
Are we or AI the superior intelligence and will we become the master or the slave!!!
naaah, it was a snore fest with a very simple story and premise that cinema turned into some kind of high water market because 'kubrick can do no wrong' just like how people think the beatles are the greatest band ever etc. I call it pop culture conditioning. you THINK it's great because you're told it is. it's actually boring AF.
I agree
#22 Gattaca was another movie that made me think. I know the message was supposed to be how unfair it was that a person who did not have a certain genetic profile was unfairly treated. To me though was the message how certain groups are just passed along without being tested and challenged. I saw all those other so called superior people in positions higher than Hawke's and it made me question how competent any of them were if they were simply passed along. How giving this one group a pass, specially cutouts, etc.. actually made the whole of them untrustworthy.
Only two movies on this list made me think, Matrix and Gattaca. Most of the other ones I simply enjoyed.
