Jupiter has a moon, Io, that is the most volcanically active moon in the whole solar system.

The surface is covered in hundreds of volcanoes. Their eruptions can spew lava tens of miles up into the air.

We’ve sent spacecrafts to every single planet, including a dwarf planet like Ceres!

Between 1957 and 2015, a spacecraft has flown past or orbited every single planet from Mercury to Pluto.

Mercury is actually shrinking!

The planet has been contracting since it was created 4.5 billion years ago, and it’s only getting smaller.

Winds on Neptune blow at 2,400 km/hour (1491.3 mph).

The fastest recorded wind on earth was 407 kilometers (407.2 mph).

Space suits are expensive! A full NASA space suit can cost between $15-22 million.

That price was quoted in 1974. Today it would be more like $83-122 million. That’s one expensive suit.

Space doesn’t just have black holes. It also has white holes that emit all light and matter.

I have a white hole too, but you don’t hear me bragging about it.

The sun loses about 5 million kilograms per second, only in energy.

Thankfully, it’s big enough to burn for another 4 billion years. So, we have some time.

Venus actually spins in the opposite direction to other planets.

The most popular theory is that Venus was once orbiting the right direction until a planet sized object hit it and knocked Venus 180 degrees on its axis.

The moon is round? No! It’s lemon-shaped.

The tidal tug of Earth’s oceans have distorted the moon’s shape to make it less round than how we seat it.

"Scientists estimate that the idea of Infinity is only about 100-400 billion." Infinity is infinite. Grahams number is a fallacy. A fallacy based on weak childs fantasy of what a truly large number might look like.

I serously doubt about that fact (more trees than stars)

Jeffrey,

There are an estimated 200 billion trillion stars in the observable universe, so by "space" they must mean the Milk Way. Tree count is correct.

New news- Due recent discoveries involving Keplerian decline in the Milky Way's rotation curve, our galaxy's mass has been calculated to be significantly lower than previously thought.

#1 It's atmosphere is so dense that even though the gravity is about the same, you would instantly be crushed. It's roughly the same as being at a depth of about 1 km in Earth's oceans.

#11 Io's orbit is highly elliptical. When it gets closer, Jupiter's massive gravity stretches the moon, which then relaxes again when it gets further away. It's these disruptions in Io's surface that cause all the volcanic activity.

#16 This is purely theoretical. The math is good, but not a single one has ever been observed.

#8 There’s an Earth-like planet called 55 Cancri e, which is made of diamonds. Unfortunately, the diamonds are all covered in lava.

So I guess it's not like earth.

Rox,

earth-like just means a rock planet aprox. the size of earth

#3 Seeing as how there are more stars than there are grains of sand on every beach on earth, that seems far fetched.

#3 Maybe the galaxy.

#8 Maybe they mean earth-sized.

#6 happens on earth too, a stainless steel screw will weld itself to a stainless steel thread, that's why they invented anti seize. just a small amount of friction will cold weld a screw to a thread

Science has been around since mankind drug their mates around by the hair, but NASA has only been around for a few decades, and creating a imaginary sense of reality to bilk millions of Americans out of their tax money for "space" programs must be completely exhausting work coming up with one continuous lie. It has yet to be proven that water and gravity work together on a "planet", when in reality water will be level in a trough 20,000 miles long by 3 feet wide, regardless of the "planet" and it's circumference.

"There are an estimated 100-400 billion stars in space, but that’s nothing compared to the three TRILLION trees on Earth."

FALSE : There are an estimated 100-400 billion stars in the MILKY WAY (only).
