Not necessarily. Only about 30% of countries and territories around the world drive on the left side of the road, most of them are former British colonies. That means that about 70% (160+) of countries and territories drive on the right side of the road.

Driving on the right happened because there was a Papal decree across Europe to keep left, and the French started keeping right as an act of defiance against that decree. Americans copied the French as an act of defiance in the war of independance. Napoleonic invasions across Europe spread the convention of keeping right; in mainland Europe the countries that had never been invaded by Napoleon (and later, Hitler) continued to keep left until the 20th Century.
