It's called separation anxiety. When I accepted my 4 year-old black Lab from the woman who needed to find a home for her dog because her work took her to Germany, she said, "Someday you're going to come home and immediately think that your place got broken into." She was right, and it happened twice before I started taking my dog to work with me. I was lucky -- not everyone can do that.
