I can only believe these lacing schemes are for their cool-looking factor because they are not adjustable after being set up. So you're either just wearing the sneakers loose while standing around looking chic or they'll be too tight to remove after a workout day without disassembling the lacing.

Not for the patterns showing but there are different lacing patterns for hiking boots to relieve stress points on the foot or to make it easier to put on and take off.
