From Latin orca "cetacean, a kind of whale." Earlier in English, orc, ork "large marine mammal, deadly sea-creature" (by mid-17c.), from French orque, had been used vaguely of sea monsters. More commonly called, "killer whales".

That's a lot of murderous nouns attached to one species.

Relax everyone, those are tiny baby killer whales (I mean they can't be longer than 10ft) so the real danger is wherever the rest of their pod is, and if their mom wants to knock you over for fun.
