In 1987 I was driving my wicked '73 Mustang on Route 2 East in Massachusetts when the same thing happened to me. Cruising at around 65 mph, the steel belt of my front right tire all of a sudden snapped apart creating a bulge the size of a football on the treads. Scared the SH#T out of me!
