I stayed thinking there would be a 'reveal' at the end...NOPE. My guess is it's an articulating bar with a centralized tensioned hinge that stops ay 90 degrees hidden in her pant leg embedded into the ground by a 12" spike attached to her shoe.

Effectively distracting trick, though. good

Laura, Almost! The bar is welded to a metal base-plate that's camouflaged with grass. If you look again you can see the outline of the plate.
