Honestly, that's how I always added texture with plaster. As far as I know that's how it is always done unless you want to pay for those stupid cans of "texture" and then still end up doing this with your hand to make it match.

Cool to see someone do it but honestly I just never got into the textured wall or texture ceiling thing. I would rather a smooth surface that i could ten paint or apply tile/paneling/etc to.
