These guys are comparing how a date would be written in in a spread
sheet with how it is spoken. Europeans say it much the same way when they speak. And it does make more sense to write it the way it is spoken.

#3 If you want to sort a list chronologically, such as movies for example, year-month-day makes more sense; instead of sorting by the month it came out, or which day of the month it was released, it would be listed by the year.
