65yo here. These are nice; some are quite remarkable and inspiring. But too many of them are just an old dude doing something silly. That doesn't help us old guys; it only perpetuates the stereotype that once we're over 40, we're all a bunch of doddering old geezers. For perspective:my most recent hike was 33miles(53km), with 5500ft(1.67km) total elevation; finished in 12:45; and this time, only one coiled and strike-ready rattlesnake. This is with two spine injuries/surgeries/permanent nerve damage. Maybe next time bring more stories like that.
And next time, please don't give me an alien for a thumbnail.
