Those mechanical devices are so fascinating, apparently rough but so precise.

When records went for Gramophone to electric, there were people who refused to buy the new recordings. To many people, the new records sounded too artificial. Having had the opportunity to listen to a lot of gramophone recordings played on old Victrola machines, I can relate. The gramophones had a nice warm acoustic sound. In the 80s, the same thing happened with CDs. Again, I could relate. If I could go back and do it again, I'd have kept my old tubular stereo equipment and listen to vinyl for the rest of my life.
