According to the official historical version, these walls were built by primitive natives using copper chisels and hammers.

Stone blocks weighing hundreds of kilograms were fitted together with joints measuring just a few millimeters wide.

The material used is diabase — a hard igneous rock, only slightly softer than quartz or granite."

It is estimated that the people who built those structures did grind the upper rocks on the lower rocks by moving them back and forth to make them fit to each other and to save one work step. Impressive.
