Well first of all it's not called a pilot's license - the proper name is "Airman Certificate" and you're certified in the type of aircraft you're allowed to fly by the FAA and in this case it would be: Single Engine Land. Since plane is a recreational one, it falls under a different category where no certification is needed to fly it. I've seen a video of where a guy built a drone type vehicle using a go cart frame. Fantastic.
