It sounds simple until you realize that the other one does not give up and just forces you to take *some* action. Ignoring will turn them more aggressive. Of course, it varies from person to person.
I'd rather look weak for 30 seconds to some random idiots I don't even know than spend years of my life in jail over it. You would sacrifice your own freedom because you're insecure in your strength - THAT is weakness.
