#7 Yes but even when plain their carbs can be equal to a piece of cake with frosting the same size. The fats actually slow down the carb absorption (as shown by my glucose meter, so this is scientific fact not propoganda).

Johnny, I have debilitating low-blood-sugar problems. Potatoes will set off my insulin spikes. But to say they are worse than a sugar-filled cake is laughable. All the fat in the world will not stop my blood-sugar drops. If fats slowed down your absorption, cake would also slow it down because cake is loaded with butter. I mean, it's nothing but fats and sugar.

Ginny, Irish-American here. That's probably the most uneducated statement I've ever heard about the Great Hunger. It's true that the British used to to their advantage, and committed unspeakable horrors against the Irish; but to say they *caused* it... no. It was caused by a blight.
