But it's not unusual. Nothing gross about it. It makes it easier for the child to chew and swallow it, and the mothers saliva begins the digestion. In ancient times, this would have been an everyday thing, and still is in some cultures. You've never known of it because you don't pay attention. This is not unusual. Start asking mothers you know if they have ever done this. You will be surprised.

Not sure what morals has to do with feeding a baby. Why would that have any connection to this? some extremist religious views? That would be far more unusual. And thank God for that.
