Even though the brunt of this past weekend’s Chinese typhoon Muifa missed Shanghai there were still people swept off their feet, bicycles and scooters. The force of wind in urban areas was 7-8 points (50-70 km per hour), and in coastal areas it was 11 points (103-117 km per hour). See the powerful winds in action.

This was built for Expo ’86 in Vancouver, British Columbia. It’s a McDonald’s restaurant that was built on a barge. It’s first floating McDonald’s anywhere in the world. While the barge was permitted to operate in a new location after the exhibition, the derelict barge has been anchored empty in Burrard Inlet, among an oil refinery and industrial barges since 1991.
In Australia, this baby humpback whale was found stranded on a beach. Soon after, it was returned to the ocean. It took several people and a lot of effort but it was all worth it.
