Sandstorms in Sahara lift fine sand particles up in the air. Mighty winds then drive them over the ocean forming the giant clouds of dust that can be seen from satellites. This phenomenon is called Calima.
These photos taken in 1928 show Christopher Robin Milne, the son of A.A. Milne. The boy was the basis of the character in the famous Winnie-the-Pooh stories.
