It is a very topical issue today when the summer heat came in force.
These pictures were taken in New York in 1953 and show children having fun with a fire hydrant and fighting with a heat wave back then. I guess, not much has changed since then, I would love to do this too. It feels good, plus it is fun.

I never saw armors created for cats and mice. Canadian artist Jeff de Boer decided that animals can also be gladiators and medieval knights, thus they should have their own defense costumes. It took him from 10 to 100 hours to create each armor. Jeff used silver, wood and bronze for his art works that cost up to $2000 per unit. The funny fact is that this artist actually tried to dress a cat in one of his costumes but failed, as the animal scratched him. Good, he didn’t repeat this dressing experiment with mice.

Ladies, would you like to carry a sacrificial cat in your hands? There is such a bag, if you would. It is designed by James Piatt from the USA. As for me, all his bags are a bit weird. Still he sells them for up to $989 per unit.

The story of this six-year-old boy from Alabama is unbelievable. Gabe Marsh was born with birth defects. He had no legs and only one arm. He was lucky to be adopted by Marshes family, who accepted over 60 children with “special needs”. One thing Ann and Ed Marshes doubted about was the ability of Gabe to swim, as most kids who had been through their home were members of the Guntersville swim team. It took Ann by surprise to see Gabe swimming last summer. Since then he has managed to improve his results, and he now swims for the Guntersville swim team.

At 95 degrees Fahrenheit (35 degrees Celsius) outside, most of us would probably dream about going to the beach. Not if you live in China. With the population of over 1 billion people, the beach here gets too overcrowded on sunny days. It is too crazy!

This is the best chair design I have seen so far. The gravity balance is fully reclined. Your legs can be elevated above your head, and the feeling of floating free of gravity should be amazing. But the price is way too high, over $2000 for one unit.

I would never take such a risk. This guy is nuts performing this trick.

Illustrator Ali Jabbar created a series of portraits of famous politics and well-known people. The minimalist vector illustrations give each of the legendary characters a unique simple distinctive mark. All genius is simple.

This is a new form of a therapy called “Laughter Yoga”. It combines different physical exercises like jumping and dancing to help people to improve their mobility and communication. Besides this, the unusual laughter therapy includes laughing and chanting helping to boost self-confidence. Such exercises were recently conducted for an orphanage center and Metro Manila city jail in Philippines. Indian police commandos also had a chance to exercise “Laughter Yoga”.

Most Haitians lived in horrible life conditions before the devastating earthquake 6 months ago. They still do. But the country is facing even more difficult times now then it used to. The earthquake destroyed 80% of the buildings, and they are still not reconstructed. Most people have no shelters, running water, electricity and jobs. The government has many plans on paper, but has no idea how to realize them.

Internet memes appear as mushrooms after the rain. Several days after the World Cup finished, this ‘Arjen Robben Is a Ball’ meme has become very popular. And it’s no wonder, it is hilarious.
The first photo is original.

This goalkeeper from Nigeria seems to be the calmest soccer player on the World Cup 2010. Sadly, there is not award for being the calmest goalkeeper; otherwise Vincent Enyeama had all chances to win it.

Surely, this hole is not called a black one. It is Dean’s Blue Hole. But the base jumping is breathtaking and for real. We had this video before, but not many people watched it, and it is worth seeing. It shows the world champion freediver Guillaume Nery jumping underwater at the world’s largest sinkhole on Bahamas. The video has been filmed entirely “on breath”.

Hipster is a term that appeared back in 1940s. It is revealed today to describe young people who are interested in non-mainstream fashion and culture. Hipsters enjoy independent films, alternative music and indie rock. They might seem strange to you, but they live in their own independent world where they are allowed to dress up according to their mood.

Now that’s a plot twist! It made me laugh hard.
"Product" is a comic strip by Jon Phillips and its ending is very very unexpected..
