The Dakar Rally in South America (37 pics)

Posted in PICTURES       13 Jan 2010       6432
The Dakar is an annual rally raid type of off-road automobile race. Most events since the inception in 1978 were from Paris, France to Dakar, Senegal, but due to security threats in Mauritania, the 2009 Dakar Rally was run in South America (Argentina and Chile), the first time the race took place outside of Europe and Africa. It returned to South America this year too. The race will finish in Buenos Aires. The participants will have to run for 9,000 kilometers.
Very exciting and spectacular race!

On Thin Ice ... (7 pics)

This boy is really stupid. Who would in clear mind come in the middle of a lake and start stomping and jumping on thin ice, moreover just few meters away of the warning sign???
Fortunately, he could get out from the water. I hope this situation will be a good lesson for him.

The First Great Made-in-China Thing Worth Seeing (15 pics)

This artwork is called Leafage Carving and is a very complicated process.
These images aren’t drawn on the leaves but carved.
The whole operation includes more than 60 working procedures. In brief, when creating the image, only a portion of the leaf’s surface is cut off, while a very thin, almost invisible translucent layer remains.
I’m stunned, it is really need to be seen!

One girl from South Korea decided to “adjust” her face a little bit by going under the knife.
You will see the process of transformation inside the post. Looking at these photos makes me somehow uncomfortable, so it is very true: one must suffer to be beautiful ;)

BUMPS Building Complex in Beijing (27 pics)

Posted in PICTURES       12 Jan 2010       11936
This interesting and rather unusual residential complex was built in China.
The building consists of a set of blocks which are shifted by 2 meters horizontally. It was designed to gain additional space that was used for the construction of terraces.
As for me, it looks something like a LEGO building, only in real life.

A 22-storey residential building had to be destroyed to make way for new real estate projects but due to technical reasons, the demolition failed. It happened on December 30 in Liuzhou, China.
The blast broke the building into two parts but only one collapsed while the other one remained standing… but leaning to one side!
More pics as well as one video await you inside the post.
