I never thought that sharks can jump so high, I'm actually shocked.
Just imagine that this killing machine could jump so that its fins are above water. Rare shots to see after the jump.

Fashion designers go nuts ;) (14 pics)

Fashion can be different. But I wonder who, being not out of their mind, will go out like that on the street.
Every time I see fashion shows, it’s what I think. I know that all this is done to attract public attention, but it’s too much.

Dramatic story of the Cliff House (13 pics)

Posted in PICTURES       28 Apr 2009       12833
The Cliff House is a restaurant perched on the headlands on the cliffs just north of Ocean Beach, on the western side of San Francisco, California. It has great history and a sad story.
The first Cliff House was a modest structure built in 1863; the building survived the explosion of the schooner Parallel, abandoned and loaded with dynamite, ran aground on the rocks below but was later completely destroyed on Christmas night 1894 due to a defective flue.
The Cliff House had also survived the 1906 earthquake with little damage but burned to the ground on the evening of September 7, 1907.
Dramatic story in pictures.

Russian king on meeting site (41 pics)

Posted in PICTURES       27 Apr 2009       40812
Edit: I found more pictures with "Russian King" to entertain you :)))

This is just priceless. It’s been longtime that I laughed so hard.
Here’s the “Russian king”, who posted his pictures in the internet because he wants to find a girl of 16-20 years old for a marriage. He lives in Saint Petersburg and he’s 39 years old (at least, it’s what he says). A quotation: “My kingdom is growing and there’s no a decent Cinderella (without bad habits, having good looks and intelligence) to transform into a princess capable of loyalty and love (without intimate past (=virgin))”.

And now, meet the King:

This is fashion… (33 pics)

I like to wear jeans but I don’t see a point in pulling down a jean so that every one could see your underwear.
Well, there are some versions of how did this fashion style appeared. I knew about oversized uniforms in prisons back then and that belts weren’t given in order to prevent suicides, but the second version made me smile. They say, that in American jails, guys who were sagging their pants, wanted to give a massage that they were…hmm…available, if you know what I mean ;)
In Louisiana, it’s even forbidden by the law to do it. If policemen catch you with your sagging pants, you can pay $500 fine or go to prison for a 6 month…ouch.

One of the most expensive restaurants in the world (25 pics)

Posted in PICTURES       27 Apr 2009       35242
The French Laundry is an American restaurant located in Yountville, California, in the Napa Valley.
It is the fourth restaurant in the world for incredibly high prices, and (as claimed by specialists) quality.
In general, a simple meal in this restaurant will cost you around a thousand dollars. But at least we can be sure that there are no genetically modified products.
The dishes are served in very small portions, to emphasize that their cuisine is "a work of art" and not just food.
After the jump, you will see the interior of the restaurant, photos of some dishes (with prices) and bills after eating there.

I'm Glad I'm a Boy! I'm Glad I'm a Girl! (14 pics)

I have something so amazing to share, you're not even going to believe it.
Like a week ago some other library returned this book that they'd borrowed. We have a copy of it, and not too many libraries do, so apparently people request it pretty regularly. One of my coworkers took a look at it and all of us read it, shocked. It's a kids book that would never, never, never get published these days. I love gender roles. I really do. But I just know that this would be like, a lawsuit on every page.

Country where a smile is hardly seen (37 pics)

News stories about North Korea have been quite frequent recently, with their test launch of a rocket over Japan, withdrawal from nuclear disarmament talks coupled with a threat to restart their nuclear program, reports that their nuclear attack capabilities may be larger than previously thought - and their recent arrest and indictment of two U.S. reporters on its border with China. Even with all this attention, photographs from North Korea are still restricted and hard to come by. One way around that has been for photographers to peer inside from across the border, a pastime that has also spurred a level of curious tourism in both neighboring South Korea and China. Collected here are a some recent photographs, looking into reclusive North Korea from the outside - and some of the reactions these observations induce.

Sad story of a wonderful fiancée Katie Kirkpatrick (11 pics)

Posted in PICTURES       24 Apr 2009       100365
Katie Kirkpatrick Godwin, 21, delayed her terminal cancer just to celebrate the happiest event of her life.
Katie had chased away cancer once, only to have it return - to clog her lungs and grab hold of her heart.
Breathing was difficult now, she had to use oxygen.
The pain in her back was so intense it broke through the morphine that was supposed to act as a shield.
Her organs were shutting down but it would not stop her from marrying Nick Godwin, 23, who was in love with Katie since 11th grade.
Five days later, Katie died.
She did not allow the disease to interfere with her life, to deprive her from hope or faith.
She had a beautiful wedding, she loved so strongly and she gave love.
And love doesn’t die. That’s how Katie struggled with cancer.
