These are some very interesting and rather creative taxi cab signs in Tokyo, Japan. They are all lit up for potential customers and the rest of the world to see. Some of them are also very funny.

These are fake swimming pools in Japan and New York by Leandro Erlich. It looks like a real swimming pool with people swimming in it. Actually, there is only small amount of water and the people are in a room below the swimming pool.

Some may dub him intrepid, while others may call him foolish, but Japanese reporter Toya Chiba definitely has some balls. He took on the thrashing waves and somehow escaped being crushed by the pinballing cars.

One Japanese couple loves its two cats so much that it has decided to build a special Inside Out House for both cats and humans. The project was designed by Takeshi Hosaka Architects who created a home “inside which you feel being outside”.

After the earthquake hit Japan, in several of the reactors at the two Fukushima plants the cooling systems failed and “without cooling, the temperature in the reactor core builds, with the risk that it could melt through its container into the building housing the system.” It also causes pressure in the containers where the reactor is situated.

The Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan declared that the amount of radiation released was "tiny." We sure hope so… but could this be another Chernobyl??

These are photos of the 8.9 earthquake that shook the northeast coast of Japan today. The earthquake was followed by a tsunami and aftershocks like fires and a landslide. Some parts of Honshu were under water when a wave swept ashore.

It seems that Batman lives in Japan now. Be attentive, and you’ll see an interesting U.S. Air Force base building on Okinawa that looks exactly like Batman logo.

In Japan, cat cafes have become very popular since 2004 when the first cat café was opened in Osaka. There you can sit with friends, drink coffee or tea and at the same time you will be surrounded by 20-30 cats.

There are rules to follow in such cafes: first, you need to remove your shoes and put on slippers. Then, when you enter the cafe, one of the employee will sprays your hands with disinfectant. It is forbidden to take photos with flash, to grab tails and to wake sleeping kittens.

It helps a lot to bring some treats with you to lure cats come around you, but when the treat is gone, they will be too.

This three-story building is located in Tokyo, Japan. It has its own name – 63.02º because its facade is inclined 63.02 degrees toward the front road. This allows passersby see a wide and deep view of the house that has a small building of a SOHO (2 and 3 floors) and an apartment for rent (1 floor). This project designed by Jo Nagasaka and Schemata Architecture Office is significant and unique.

An impressive exhibition was opened recently in "Tobu World Square" theme park, which is in Nikko, Japan. The theme park contains over a hundred 1:25 scale models of famous buildings, including UNESCO-designated World Cultural and Heritage Sites, complete with 140,000 1:25 miniature people. This is Nara Dreamland, an abandoned theme park in Japan. It was built in 1961 and modeled after Disneyland in California. Sadly, it was closed four years ago, in 2006.
