Izismile team has recently received the following letter from one of our visitors:
“Hi, I'm from the Netherlands. I started portrait drawing 6 years ago when I was 16 years old and only made 50 drawings in around 183 hours over that period of time. It's not necessary to take classes, everyone can learn to draw portraits by themselves by just a little bit of practice and lots of patience.”
Here are several portraits drawn by the artist, sorted from the earliest to the latest so as to show how his skill has been progressing.
Thanks for sharing your works and good luck with your future drawings!

The guy shows his MS Paint mad skillz by drawing portraits of his Facebook friends. Apparently, these are not the works of the old masters, but at least he keeps on trying.

California-based artist Andrew Myers found an original way to make his portraits more vivid. He paints them on screws driven in a wooden panel at different depths in order to make the picture three-dimensional. The result looks rather innovative.

Some people take drugs to devise experiments. Artist Bryan Lewis Saunders, for example, takes drugs to draw himself under the influence. Even though he periodically suffers mild brain damage and becomes lethargic, he still continues his experiments and takes drugs that are given to him. See how his perception of the self changes in his drawings.

Photography was still new during the reign of Queen Victoria, and participants had to sit motionless for a while before a photo could be taken. Strangely, the mothers had to drape sheets over their heads for the photos, making for extremely weird portraits of their kids.

Not many people use Microsoft Paint for drawing today. However this artist has truly got a natural “talent” for making portraits of celebrities to look this “real”.

The idea to mix two family members’ faces in one is very creative. But the result often looks frightening, just like inside this post. Don’t forget to see the first part of Creepy Split Face Family Portraits.
Take a look at these awesome images of real life celebrities as Russian generals. The English painter George Dawe created portraits during the famous 1812 Russian invasion, and now we can all use them for something much more entertaining.

Well, at least not exactly…
Canadian photographer Ulric Collette brought brothers, sisters, parents and their children together for these face mashing pictures. Each portrait is split between two family faces to create scarily similar portraits.

Los Angeles based photographer Ejen Chuang took these high quality photographs of comic book and anime convention participants. There are apparently men and women alike who spend a tremendous amount of time, energy and money creating and wearing these costumes.
