don't be so quick to judge. you weren't there... in his head, in that country.

possibly he felt that his brakes wouldn't be up to the task or that he'd be rear-ended by the typical driver in that area. then once you go halfway, it might just be best to keep going than to stop and cause greater risk of an accident.

driving is cultural... not just a matter of rules and intellect.
