It is not the police's job to sanction this man, who may or may not be a criminal, one they're looking for. They are only there for apprehending him, and put him in a cell. Once he is convicted, it is the job of the prison system to carry out his sentence, which is deprivation of freedom, not humiliation. Human Rights and such. You Americans are also not in the Stone Age any more.

nohelpneeded, you need help. You are under the wrongful impression that the police are free to take revenge in advance of a potential conviction. This has been the case over here in Europe up to, and even after the middle ages, until they finally introduced the Universal Declaration of Human Rights after WWII. Look it up. It pretty much forbids everything the US police have currently fun doing.
