China, the most populated country in the world, continues to absorb Western culture. The chains of American fast-food restaurants pop up like mushrooms after the rain, American supermarkets and bars are opened, more American music, products and brands are sold. And after the Olympics of 2008 that took place in China, more and more students have started actively learning English language. So, it is safe to say that China is undergoing Americanization.

I thought that members of the Muslim faith were against Western culture in general and Rock music in particular. However, as these photos show, taqwacore groups seem to embrace both. But who can blame them? With all the groupies that follow them around and the attention they receive on stage it is a rather desirable lifestyle.
