This artwork is called Leafage Carving and is a very complicated process. These images aren’t drawn on the leaves but carved. The whole operation includes more than 60 working procedures. In brief, when creating the image, only a portion of the leaf’s surface is cut off, while a very thin, almost invisible translucent layer remains. I’m stunned, it is really need to be seen!  These insects are called the Phasmatodea and there are plenty members of them: stick insects (in Europe), walking sticks or stick-bugs (in the US), ghost insects and leaf insects. I wouldn’t like someone makes a joke on me using one of these insects ;))  “View the Milky Way at 10 million light years from the Earth. Then move through space towards the Earth in successive orders of magnitude until you reach a tall oak tree… After that, begin to move from the actual size of a leaf into a microscopic world that reveals leaf cell walls, the cell nucleus, chromatin, DNA and finally, into the subatomic universe of electrons and protons”.  Who would have thought that apart from coconuts, palm leaves are also dangerous O_o Avoid to park your car under trees, you never know!  |
