It’s quite obvious why they like it and why we would like to have some too – as passengers travel nightly from Tokyo to Takamatsu and Izumo, they don’t have to travel uncomfortably, as there is a ton of space for each of them in this express.

Roy James, 72, from the Isle of Sheppey, Kent, started to build his railway in 1990. It started off small but that “one thing lead to another” and now his collection features more than 100 trains and 400 coaches and wagons. Overall, Mr. James has spent £250,000 ($357,000) building his model railway and had to put in his garden shed because his girlfriend refuses to have it in the house.
 

Burce Williams Zaccagnino and his wife began building this model railroad over 44 years ago and the Northlandz Great American Railway in Flemington, NJ is now an impressive 52,000 square foot complex with over over 8 miles of track with 3,000 miniature buildings.

The Miniatur Wunderland is on display in Hamburg and takes up over68,889 sq ft of floor space and 39,370 ft of train track.

The Goteik viaduct was constructed in Myanmar in the year 1899 by the Pennsylvania and Maryland Bridge Construction. The line was built as a way for the British Empire to expand their influence in the region and measures 2,260 ft (689 metres) in length and is situated roughly 820 ft (250 metres) above the ground.

This impressive model was built by New Jersey local, Bruce Williams and has over 12 km of track, 100 trains, 400 bridges, over 3000 buildings, 50,000 trees and much more.

This is the Gotthard base tunnel which is almost 36 miles long. It is the longest railway tunnel in the world. It runs underneath the Alps in Switzerland and is scheduled for opening in 2017. The breakthrough to the east tube just happened in October of 2010.
