Orangutan Boxing Show was a big attraction at Safari World outside of Bangkok. It was forbidden in 2006. According to Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation, orangutans were illegally smuggled from the Malaysian woods. They stayed in dark cages and were trained for the show. Some people say animals were abused. It’s important to understand that orangutans are endangered. Wild species can be found only in Malaysia and Indonesia rainforests.

This famous Japanese festival is held every 6 years in the Lake Suwa. Onbashira means “the honored pillars” and consists of two parts: Yamadashi that takes place in April and Satobiki that is celebrated in May. Men prepare for the first part by cutting down huge trees that will be used as logs later on. During Yamadashi, participants have to drag these logs down the mountain. Young guys show how brave they are in “Ki-otoshi” ceremony by riding the tree poles on the slope. It’s rather spectacular.

I don’t know who did these comparisons but some of them are really funny.

There have been numerous trends that have come and gone over the years. As these photos show, some of these trends were way more embarrassing than others. All of us adopted one or another of these trends at some time during our lives. Kind of makes you wish you were an outsider doesn’t it?

The life of royal families is rather curious. And the life of Prince Charles is probably the most interesting “modern” case. The eldest child of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Prince Charles was married to Princess Diana who died in a car crash. The prince is well-known all over the world, and you can see his life in pictures after the jump.

This is a usual child’s room. But it has a hidden door that leads into a secret room :)

These amazing photos of “land of Angles” were made two decades ago. Because these pictures were made in 1890s, they might look like usual images due to the short exposure time. Others think these are colorized postcards. Anyway, these colorful pics of old England are still very beautiful!

Well-known American sideshow performer and actor, best known as Schlitzie Surtees for his role in the movie Freaks, was possibly born under the name of Simon Metz in the New York’s community Bronx in 1901. According to other rather “mystical” sources, he was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Maybe that’s why many of the circus posters billed Schlitze under the title “The Last of the Aztecs”.

It’s not a secret that many paparazzi in the USA are always breathing down celebrity necks. To make one snapshot, Paps can spend a whole day lying in their cars like “snipers” and waiting for their famous “victim” to appear. If celebrity photographs are big news, they can be sold to popular publishers for really big bucks.
