These are spiritual photographs taken by William Hope (1863-1933). I wonder if they are for real. What if he simply used the very first version of Photoshop?

Uh, yeah. It's called double exposure. Fake through and through. It was too easy to make these types of photos back then. And it still is.

Although I don't agree the way #4 posted, it is true that it is double exposure and like #3 stated, it was easy to make photos like this back then but likely these happened by accident. I have never seen a current photo like this and that's because of technological advancements to prevent this from happening.
