A lot can change in 16 years. But not in Afghanistan. These photos were taken by Seamus Murphy in 1994 and 2010. Even though the Taliban era is over by now, the place still looks like back in the old times.

So the main point is that color-photographs weren't developed 'til after 1994.

So the point is that a semblant of life exists in Kabul, complete with cars, cellphones, and soon to come i-pods and American blend cigarettes. What about the rest of Afghanistan? Still the same Taliban controlled, Poppy producing mayhem.
Good point Dreth!

All I see is sudden overpopulation and a place where cars end up when the rest of the world doesn't want them anymore.

Living in Kabul right now. There are more soldiers from Belgium and France than the US.

nexus.6,

You know, I knew there had to be at least one pompous European douche-bag spewing his uninformed opinion. Not every American is in complete agreement with the current foreign policy. So why don't you get off of your high horse and go fuck yourself.

You should post photos of Afghanistan from 60's and 70's. They are somewhere in the net. It was normal country almost like european countries.
