How Baby Elephants Learn Tricks (24 pics)

Posted in ANIMALS       23 Sep 2010       30392       35 GALLERY VIEW

These are the photographs that reveal how baby elephants learn tricks for circus performances. Go inside this post to learn more.

These elephant babies are trained by Ringling Bros. circus in a very cruel way. Their spirit is broken during the violent training sessions with electric shock prods, ropes and bullhooks. No wonder that poor animals easily sit up and even stand on their heads when they see their masters!

This is just horrible, we need to treat those animals better.

Just one question, if we have PETA and stuff because we apparently kill too many animals, why don't bears form a group called BETH, Bears for the ethical treatment of humans? Or SETH, sharks for the ethical treatment of humans. I mean, they kill us too so its only fair that we are protected by them.

@#10 "Why u posting such shit? =(("

How else will people know and be able to make a choice to go to a circus or not? Open your eyes and learn what's out there. Be informed. Sometimes it's not pleasant.

I'm glad to see the responses from this post. This cruelty and so much more goes on not just with the elephants, but with all the animals who share this planet with us. I have fought against horrific cruelty all my life, and will continue to do so until the day I die.

Please, please report any abuse you see. The innocents among us need you to stand up for them. They have no one else.

that's how ALL TRAINED elephants are treated from the start. They bring their mother in plain sight of the baby elephant, torture the baby in front of their mother so that the baby loses trust in her. then train away

I hope circuses are all but banned one day. There are thousands of ways to entertain our dopey minds without the suffering of animals.

I may sound like a hippie but all I really want is a nuke and drop it in the most strategic of places.

life in the circus is no bowl of cherries. but neither is an elephant's life in the wild, nor their life in a zoo. each one has it's hazards, and most of those are related to man.

i.e.- elephant habitat in the wild continues to shrink because of ongoing human sprawl, and elephants continue to be slaughtered by poachers for their tusks.

this post and the replies are merely mimicking one source. PETA set up the site for these pics and PETA serves all of the links. i see zero objectivity in that. even WP does far better.

also, notice how the site is abandoned? so how do we know that the charges on "ringlingbeatsanimals.com" were actually proved without doing the research ourselves?

PETA is also responsible for breaking into research facilities, freeing thousands of lab animals in attempts to provide 'freedom'. sometimes those animals go on to ravage the local ecosystem. sometimes the freed animals aren't able to survive on their own, and suffer far more than they would have in any well-run lab.

and what do these pics actually show us? that ropes and heavy equipment are necessary to help train pachyderms. well, duh... an adult elephant can pick up a human being with their trunk and easily split them in half. that's why "black diamond" had to be put to death. which tends to be exactly the same solution that authorities use today!

every circus anywhere has to carefully and strictly train any large animal from infancy. there can be no variation on this, given the lives and money at stake. of course this doesn't mean the animal can't be shown love and kindness whenever possible. i hope that would always be the case. and this doesn't mean that ringling brothers doesn't mistreat animals- just that i want to see real proof...!

me? i adore animals and donate time and money to preserving habitat, both for the plants, the animals, and for the future of humanity. but i have never, and do not intend, to donate to PETA.

I know that many people think that animals have no rights, but it's always painful to see this kind of cruelty. Living in nature is dangerous, but still I think that wild elephants heads are less messed up than these poor things...
