The world’s largest collection of high-quality, historically significant toys will be sold at auction at Sothebys until February 28th. It includes over 35,000 European and American manufactured toys that date back to the 1850’s. This is a lifetime collection from owner Jerry Greene.
Jerry’s dad was a toy train dealer. He began collecting his toys at 18 and has continued to collect them until now and he is 67. He has collected more than 10,000 figurines, 700 stations, along with over 1,600 trains. Mr. Greene has been taking his collection to thousands of toy fairs and shows.
He has some amazing pieces that include structures that were bombed and destroyed in World War Two bombings. These toys are also handmade and include toys from Marklin, Bing, Ernst Plank Carette, and Rock & Craner. He also has a station that is said to be the only of its kind that has a double door in its center. The collection is worth at least 8 figures.
