you mean petrol tank, gas would be LPG. (unless you're american, but then you can't speak english anyway).

There are many varieties of petroleum. "Gasoline" is one of them. Specifically a refined petroleum used for internal-combustion engines.

In this case, the Americans actually have it right, unless you are willing to slip petroleum jelly into your tank. Dumbass.
