Take a look at what has happened to riverboat casino S.S. Admiral.

This vessel built in 1907 operated on the Mississippi River. It was 374 feet (114 m) long and 92 feet (28 m) wide. At the time of its construction, the Admiral became the first all-steel inland steamer and the biggest passenger vessel on American inland waterways.

The boat underwent disposal and was turned into scrap metal this year.

I feel sad that something old and beautiful like this gets destroyed.

Wife and i spent an evening gambling on her about 20 years ago. Technically she wasn't built in 1907. The original keel was laid in 1907, she was retrofitted in the 1930's to look as she did in the pictures. Still well ahead of her times even then.

It's a real waste to destroy things because they are old. We lose so many insights from the past. Not all things get better with technology. Tech can't replace ambiance, style and the character something like this ship develops over so many years
